Supplemental Outreach Initiatives and Activities

A:  Best Broadcasting, Inc. participated in a scholarship program in conjunction with the International Broadcasters Idea Bank and SESAC which awarded a $7500.00 scholarship award to a college student attending a U.S. College or University who is seeking a degree in Broadcast-Related programs.  Some of the programs included degrees in Mass Media, Communication, Journalism, Advertising or Music.

B.  Best Broadcasting, Inc. also participates in the Missouri Broadcasters Association Foundation Internship Program.  Selected applicants receive $250.00 for each credit hour, up to a maximum of $1000.00.  We assist the MBA Foundation by promoting and distributing brochures and applications.  This is a year-around program, however, final recipients are selected three times only, each year.

C.  Best Broadcasting, Inc. participates in an ongoing basis with a mentoring program involving area Boy Scouts.  The purpose of this mentoring program is to assist the Scouts in earning their Communications Merit Badge while educating them on the various job opportunities available in the broadcast industry.  During this reporting period, 3 area scouts have participated in this program.  One has earned his Communications Merit Badge and the other two are in the final stages of completion.  In addition, 6 other members of the Troop are scheduled to start the process in the next several weeks.  Also, during this reporting period, Best Broadcasting, Inc. hosted a total of 13 Webelos Scouts, members of Cub Scout Pack 41 of Brookfield.  They toured our station facilities and participated in a question and answer session about careers in Broadcasting, training requirements, and we offered some guidance on school subjects that could benefit them the most if they have an interest in radio.

D:  Best Broadcasting, Inc. has an ongoing program which allows area school students who are interested in the broadcast industry to "shadow" station personnel.  Each year we host several students from various schools throughout the listening area and give them a real life perspective of day-to-day operations in a radio station.

E:  Best Broadcasting, Inc. participated in a Career Fair on March 15, 2006 at Marceline R-5 School.  During the course of the event, we visited with several dozen students regarding various broadcasting careers.  Representing Best Broadcasting, Inc. was Jeff Elliott, Group Operations Manager.

F:  Best Broadcasting, Inc. participated in a Career Fair on March 24, 2006 at Brookfield R-3 School.  During the course of the event, we visited with four groups of students regarding various broadcasting careers.  Representing Best Broadcasting, Inc. was Jeff Elliott, Group Operations Manager.

G:  Best Broadcasting, Inc. has developed an on-going informal internship type relationship with Northwest Missouri State University at Maryville, MO regarding a part-time employee of Best Broadcasting, Inc. who has recently began work on a Broadcast Journalism degree.

H:  Continued to air weekly announcements encouraging those who are interested in a broadcast related career to contact us.

I:  Continued to air weekly announcements encouraging the help of local organizations in referring qualified applicants to our stations.  These announcements inform organizations that wish to receive our job vacancy information to contact us.
